It’s About Time Book Review

If you are tired from your day's activities and you would love an exciting action book to thrill you during the night, It’s about time is one book, I will recommend.  Although the title to me sounds more like  that of  drama  book, the cover page really illuminates the book making it look futuristic and all. This book fits in the region of a thriller, and the mere fact the plot of the book was built from past, present to future added suspense to the mixture.

“It's about time” is a book written by Lyle Howard, I can’t really describe the author and his style of writing since this is the first of his books I have read, but I am convinced that he is a good writer due to the fact that he generated such a story: The book merges past, present and future quite excellently, I mean the starting part of the book was quite exciting with an apparent storm scene which had me salivating for what would happen next, then the author suddenly throws me of course then delves into another plot all together, introducing other characters and describing their lives. This to me was quite impressive. The book has quite a bit of a love story which provided the drive for some of the characters motives. The entire book is a thriller, definitely worth reading.

Considering my favorite character, it was Cole Wilder, Why? Well I believe with him, the author never ceased to shock me with his endeavors, considering the shock at the ending part of the book which he played a major role contributed to me liking his character even more. Lyle really brought all the characters to life with his style which involved sometimes focusing on expanding on the individual characters points of view of life, making it easier to understand why a certain character would take certain decisions affecting the whole storyline.

The book was written as mixture of both the third and first person’s view, with the writer was able to
shield most of the thoughts of the characters from the reader. This really contributed to the punch packed when the secrets were revealed, even with this it still felt like the story got more and more predictable as it went on. :( ..

With the authors point of view with this story, I believed he moved a bit too much to the soft side, although I admit there were a lot of gruesome scenes, initially at the beginning of the book there was a hint of toughness with a really cool elevator fight scene. Personally I believe Lyle wrote this with love and thriller in mind but I personally wished he had ignored the love and replaced it with conspiracy.

Like I said, the book had some gruesome fight scenes, which made the current warfare, look like a joke.  The introduction of weapons future warfare such as the pulse gun and the hovercraft, contributed to making the prison break scene of the book quite impressive that and the speed and efficiency of the military team sent to retrieve Werner Bowland made this my favorite part of the book.

My opinion

I also loved the main character due to how good she was at martial arts, an example was how she took down a man sent to kill her inside a restroom even with this I disliked the main character's motivation for doing things, even though her motivation was quite understandable.

If you ask my personal opinion on this book it’s a good one to read if you are thinking of a book on thriller side, but bad one on science fiction side which I really hoped the author would build on.

Did I love the book? Yes I did, why? Because it was one of those few books that can keep you in suspense from beginning to end, another reason was the seemingly easy way the author merged the future, past and present creating one of those books that keeps you wishing there was a sequel.
